It's the Little Things that make the Most Difference
I am living proof that anyone can find recovery from an eating disorder or other addiction. For the past five and a half years I have experienced life in recovery from my eating disorder of 23 years. When health professionals told me I would always have an eating disorder and I hit bottom several times; I found the will and determination within myself to turn my life around. Little did I know that the life I am living today was even remotely possible; even during the best daydream, I had no idea how amazing and wonderful living in recovery would look or feel like. I believe that everyone of all ages, no matter how long or short you have been dealing with an addiction, you can find recovery.
I regularly speak in Minneapolis and St. Paul sharing my story of recovery. Check back for the next speaking date. My story has also been published in the book Eating Disorders Anonymous.
I work as a Registered Nurse (BSN) and Director of Nursing at two drug and alcohol treatment centers in the Twin Cities, as well as overseeing adult customized living homes for people with persistent mental health issues. I have my Public Health Nurse license and Faith Community Nurse Certificate. As a teenager I found a passion working with children with special needs in the home care setting, and since then have worked in various capacities in the healthcare realm; as a camp nurse, parish nurse, pediatric hospice nurse, and director at an assisted living and memory care. Above all else my drive and goal is to help people find hope and healing. I love getting to know people, listening to their stories, and seeing the very best in everyone.
